Before delving into the latest advancements in pulmonary fibrosis research, it is essential to understand the disease itself. Pulmonary fibrosis is a complex condition with several potential causes, including exposure to environmental toxins, genetics, autoimmune disorders and viral infections. Regardless of the initial trigger, the end result is the same: the excessive buildup of scar tissue (fibrosis) in the lungs, which hampers their ability to function properly.
