From a Suspicion of Meningitis to the Diagnosis of Cervical Spondylodiscitis: A Case Report

Moussa Houssein Amir* and Decamps Frederic

Cervical spondylodiscitis or vertebral osteomyelitis is a rare condition, the incidence of which is probably often underestimated due to a lack of knowledge on the part of the medical community. The clinical presentation (neck pain and fever) often remains nonspecific. In the case, the patient was hospitalised under suspicion for bacterial meningitis. Subsequently, the first diagnosis was reconsidered given the negative results of the CSF cultures, the persistence of neck pain and the context of several surgical cures of a recurrent ENT neoplasia. A cervical spondylodiscitis was then suggested and confirmed by cervical CT-scan and brain MRI.

Phlegmasia Cerulea Dolens: A Rare Complication of Cutaneous Mucormycosis

Himanshu Sharma

Mucormycosis is a rare, opportunistic, aggressive infection caused by fungi which frequently infects the brain, sinuses, or lungs, rarely skin, GIT. Primary cutaneous infection in humans is limited to patients with severe immunocompromised status. This is a case of middle aged immunocompetent patient with primary cutaneous mucormycosis infection of the anterior abdominal wall with involvement of bilateral inguinal lymph nodes causing deep vein thrombosis and eventual gangrene of lower limb. The potential life threatening condition was averted with timely intervention, although his limb could not be salvaged. Diagnosis and timely management of mucormycosis still remains a challenge. The key to the diagnosis lies is the identification of the important risk factors and hallmark symptoms and a quick histopathological diagnosis. Awareness, early recognition, extensive and aggressive diagnostic procedure, prompt surgical intervention and initiation of an appropriate antifungal treatment are crucial in the management of this uncommon but potentially limb and life threatening infection.

Evolution and Prediction of Hot Keywords in Chinese Information Science Journals

Song Peng

Background: To find the distribution characteristics of research hotspots of periodical papers in the field of Information Science in China, and to explore the basic evolution track of academic research hotspots in the field of Information Science in China.

Methods: The key words of 21 periodical papers in the field of Information Science in China were selected for statistical analysis. The statistical time was from 2000 to 2020, and the statistical data were carried out in Wanfang database. Firstly, select the keywords that are ranked more than 30 times a year as the statistical object of hot research, and then select 60 keywords as the basic hot keywords of information journals. Secondly, the selected 60 keywords are searched in the whole discipline keywords of Wanfang database from 2000 to 2020. Finally, the personalized characteristics and global distribution characteristics of hot keywords of information journals in the whole discipline are compared and analyzed Research.

Conclusion: The experimental results show that the statistical analysis reveals the evolution track of hot keywords in three stages of Chinese information journal papers in recent 20 years. There are leading and lagging phenomena between the hot keywords of information science and the keywords of the whole discipline, which reflects the development law of mutual learning and mutual promotion between the information discipline and the whole discipline. Based on this law, we can predict the hot spots of Information Science in China in the future, and predict the 72 hot that will continue to appear and may appear in the papers of information journals in China in the future.
